Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy, also known as photo biomodulation and low-level light therapy, uses red low-level wavelengths of light for a variety of health and wellness benefits. Red light is considered “low level” because it works at an energy density that’s low compared to other forms of laser therapies.

Our RED Light Therapy
Our red light therapy tower at The Salt Spot is attached to our infrared sauna door. Customers can choose to use the red light therapy tower while using the infrared sauna or as a standalone session.
In the early 1990s, Red Light Therapy was used by scientists to help grow plants in space. They found that the intense light from red LEDs promoted the growth and photosynthesis of plant cells.
Red light was then studied for its ability to increase energy inside human cells. The human body needs to make ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) cellular energy to function and survive. This occurs naturally when our bodies are exposed to natural sunlight. Red and near infrared wavelengths of natural light stimulate the mitochondria in our cells. The mitochondria turn the light into usable energy for our bodies through the process of cellular respiration.
Residing right next to near infrared on the spectrum, red light can (obviously) be seen! Many red-light therapy systems use small amounts of infrared along with red LED lights. Infrared penetrates deeply while red light works on the surface of the skin. Red Light LED produces its effects by stimulating collagen production because 700nm wavelength of Red light therapy is optimal for Collagen I production. While penetrating the skin, red light LED can help to reduce wrinkles, build collagen, repair sun damage and more!

Red light is visible and is most effective for use on the surface of the skin.
Infrared light is invisible and is effective for use on the surface of the skin as well as penetration of about 1.5 inches into the body. The wavelength infrared puts out is longer than the wavelength of red light, which allows infrared to penetrate more deeply into the body. The longer the wavelength, the deeper the penetration. Thus, the reason infrared provides some similar but some completely different benefits than red light.

What you wear depends on what you would like exposed to the red light. Wear a tank top and shorts or wear nothing. Towels and spa wraps are provided in the room.

A red light therapy session can be 5 to 30 minutes depending on how long you would like to sit through the session. Each red light therapy session (not using red light along with the infrared sauna) is 35 minutes – 30 minutes for the session and 5 minutes to get undressed and dressed, if you wish.
If you would like to use the red light therapy with the infrared sauna, the session is up to 45 minutes.

It depends. Some people require frequent sessions, while others can get by with a treatment now and then. Most people get good results with a 15-minute session, 3-5 times each week for several months. The frequency at which you use red light therapy also depends on the severity of the condition you want to treat, your age and overall health, as well as your sensitivity to light. Healing occurs at the cellular level, and cells require time to heal and regenerate. Red light therapy starts to work immediately, and the results only get better with each session. Improvement for long-term problems is usually noticeable after 8 to 12 weeks of consistent use.

Those who have the following conditions should exercise caution and/or consult with their doctor before using red light therapy:
