Salt Therapy

Also known as halotherapy, this is an all-natural, non-toxic, drug-free therapy that boosts your immune system, clears your airways and improves the look and feel of your skin.

The benefits of salt were first realized over 100 years ago.

Feliks Bochkovisky, a Polish physician, noticed that miners who worked in the salt mines very rarely come down with the cold, suffered from any respiratory conditions and looked younger because of the appearance of their skin.

Since then, other doctors in Europe and Russia, created the first-ever salt caves to help those with respiratory and skin conditions find relief. Now the therapy is practiced all over the world.

Every day, we are exposed to polluted air, allergens and micro-organisms that can cause airborne diseases and respiratory conditions, restricted breathing, mucus production, skin infections, rashes, inflammation, and more.

Salt therapy is a safe way to remove toxins and ease symptoms. It is a treatment, not a cure.

“I just experienced the salt cave for the first time. I loved it and plan to go back monthly. I have chemical sensitivities which can put stress on the throat and lungs. This is exactly what I am looking for, to help my body and strengthen my immune system. Super relaxing. I really felt a sense of wellness and clarity afterward.”

— Betsy

“Beautiful, clean space and great for families. We did the introductory family room salt session and my kids (1, 4 and 6) loved every minute. Page (who worked the desk) was so sweet and welcoming. We can’t wait to go back!”

  • During a salt therapy session, you will breathe in tiny particles (so tiny that you cannot see them) of medical grade salt as you relax in a salt filled cave or family room. By breathing deeply, the salt enters your airway and the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-bacterial properties of the salt helps clear the sinus cavities, thin mucus in the nose and lungs and absorb toxic moisture to remove harmful bacteria. While the salt is working inside the body, it is also working on your skin. Salt can penetrate into the layers of skin which can improve your skin’s healthy bacteria, stimulate cell regeneration, exfoliate the skin and reduce inflammation, leaving your skin looking smoother, rejuvenated and younger.

  • Choose from a relaxing salt cave experience or spend time with your family in the family salt room. When you come for your appointment, we will ask you to remove your shoes and place items that you don’t want to get salty in the designated cubby. Salt will get on your clothes but it easily brushes off. Please leave all valuables in the car. The Salt Spot LLC will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

  • Wearing any type of comfortable clothing is recommended. The salt in the air will not ruin any clothing, it will simply leave light salt particles on clothing (usually noticeable on darker clothing) that can simply be brushed off. Blankets are provided for those who prefer to cover their clothes. If you are susceptible to cold temperatures, please dress accordingly. If you are visiting for skin treatments, shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt is recommended so the salt particles may absorb and contact your exposed skin.

  • Based on an individual's condition and symptoms, this can vary, since like many wellness and health regimens, individuals respond differently. Many individuals will notice a positive effect in just in one session, however, a series of sessions is recommended for optimal results. Some people go two to three times a week for a three to four-week ritual during allergy and cold seasons, some people go twice a week for six to eight weeks for more chronic conditions. Those who go for general wellness, stress relief, and relaxation simply go as often as they like.

The Salt Therapy Association additionally recommends using dry salt therapy as a continuous preventive measure to strengthen the immune system against colds, cough, allergies, and sinusitis. There are some people who have salt therapy in their homes and do a daily ritual. You cannot overdose from salt therapy.

To see specific guidelines for specific conditions, please review the Salt Therapy Association Dry Salt Therapy (Halotherapy) Reference & Resource Guide

PLEASE NOTE: For best results, during a course of therapy, chronic sufferers should try to complete sessions as consecutively as possible - daily is best, but at least 3 times a week are usually needed for challenging cases. Back-to-back sessions - two in a row - can be greatly beneficial for sinus and skin conditions, though are not always recommended for chronic lung conditions

  • High blood pressure and hypertension types of issues are connected with salt intake through the digestive tract. Dry salt therapy is different as it is associated with the respiratory system. When inhaled, the amount of micro salt particles entering your respiratory system is extremely low, so it doesn’t present any risk to your health.

  • Yes! Respiratory difficulties and disease are common problems in seniors that not only affect their health but their quality of life.

“As people age, a gradual decline in lung function often occurs. This is noticeable when there is a decrease in the maximum amount of air that an individual can breathe out after inhaling as much air as possible. This happens because aging causes an individuals’ bones to thin and change shape. The shape of the rib cage is affected, which ultimately causes a reduction in rib cage expansion potential. In addition, respiratory muscles weaken, making it difficult to keep the airway totally open.” Salt Therapy Association

  • At The Salt Spot, we prioritize the health and safety of our customers. While we can never guarantee that our environment is 100% germ-free, we take several proactive steps to minimize the spread of germs:

    1. Health Precautions: We ask that anyone attending a salt session be fever-free for at least 24 hours.

    2. Natural Antibacterial Properties of Salt: During each session, tiny salt particles are dispersed into the air. Salt is naturally antibacterial, and when it attaches to germs, it dehydrates them, preventing their spread.

    3. Air Exhaust System: After each session, we activate an exhaust system that removes all the air and residual salt particles, ensuring fresh, clean air for the next session.

    4. Halogenerator Ventilation: Our halogenerator, also known as the salt machine, enhances ventilation by directing air and salt particles toward the vent for effective removal.

    5. Thorough Cleaning: Our staff cleans and sanitizes each chair with microfiber cloths and empties all garbage bins between sessions.

At The Salt Spot, we are committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment for all our guests.
